Gate and Gate Opener Repair
Garage door services are not the only services available from Austin Overhead Doors. In addition to garage door systems, our team also provides service on gates and gate openers. This includes the driveway gates, security shutter gates, and the security scissors gates, as well as the openers for each of them.
Gate UsageGates are commonly used as a specialized level of security to a broader area than just an enclosed garage. They are commonly seen at the entrance to driveways and other larger areas that need secured. The specific gate type used will depend on the specifics of the area to be secured and the frequency of access needed. If the gate or gate opener is damaged, security is compromised. This is especially true when the gate is stuck open. However, problems can also result if the gate is stuck closed and the area is inaccessible to the owner or authorized user.
Warning SignsTypically, when a gate or gate opener is in need of repair, there are warning signs at the start of the problem. Attention to this is important because the sooner the repairs are made, the less likely more and/or additional damage will be done. Warning signs are important to catch as quickly as possible and be addressed immediately.
- Gate moves slower than normal.
- Gate movement is delayed.
- Gate does not open or close at all.
- The gate stops moving before it should. (Does not fully open or fully close.)
- The gates moves in the wrong direction.
Common ProblemsRegardless of the gate and gate opener type, there are some problems that are more common than others and happen with all types. This includes things such as damaged or broken components, power supply issues, weather or moisture issues and issues with the gate post. With gates and gate openers, there are a very large number of individual components that can need repaired or replaced. This makes it much more likely for a part to break, which if left untreated, can cause further damage to other parts. The more parts that break and need repaired to replaced, the more costly the repair will be. The sooner problems are corrected, the better chance of saving money and further damage. While the gates and gate openers are different, the problems can present the same way. Some specific problems that are often an issue include:
- Damaged chains, casters, or circuit boards.
- Bad ground loops, batteries, or charging systems.
- Bent or dirty tracks.
- Leaning gate posts.
